Trust Wallet's browser extension vulnerability in version 2.68 led to one of the year's most significant security incidents, with confirmed unauthorized access to 2,596 wallets between December 24-26, 2025. The breach resulted in over $6 million drained from user accounts before the compromised version was identified and disabled.

Compensation efforts face complications as approximately 5,000 claims have been submitted—nearly double the verified victim count. CEO Eowyn Chen noted many appear fraudulent or duplicate, stating forensic analysis and reimbursement verification are progressing simultaneously. The incident highlights ongoing security challenges facing crypto storage solutions as adoption grows.
